A whale approaches the shoreline
Indicating he
Is sick and needs some help
And they shoot him
Thus his plea
Fell on their deaf ears of course
They would rather see him dead
And when they then cut into him
As the whale had fed
On what he thought were jelly fish
But turned out to be bags
Made of polyethylene
For us they are the flags
Marked danger but mistaken
For jelly fish and so
Swallowed up and gradually
As the numbers grow
They will kill the whale
Or turtle and they harmed this whale
And humans being what they are
Obviously we fail
The oceans now are Chock a block
The water column will
Be full of dissolved particles
This water it will kill
Some Plastic breaks down rapidly
In a year or two
But others
Will be floating for a thousand years
They do
Cause immeasurable damage
And toxicity can be
Passed onto to each other
With predation obviously
10 bags per foot of coastlines
That is about the norm
Torn into the oceans and seas
During a storm
Or coming via the wind
Of really just thrown into the sea
Or from these passenger liners
Who dump stuff constantly
The chemicals that are made up
Apof different plastics they
Break down in the saline
Are dissolved there so to say
Cant be seen with the human eye
But still obviously there
abd can be contained in muscle
And we are not aware
So its about accumulation
The animals are first
They are on the front line
Eating till they burst
We then eat subject our bodies
To the vagaries of those
Who conceal the wretched debris
And indude of us it grows
Cetaceans are already dying
From trash zones everywhere
Microplastic blocks the light
Which the plankton Wants to share
Its the building block of nature
Being disassembled here
All creatures really big and small
Live in this soup of fear
About eight million metric tons
Dumped into the sea
This phenomenal great huge dust bin
We all know where it be
We are irresponsible a lot of us anyway
And so our precious oceans die
A little more each day
Birds are eating tonnes of it
There are huge zones everywhere
Left there on our beaches thrown off liners
Such despair
Predators eating smaller fish
Eat the plastic they contain
It bio accumulates in their guts
We really are insane
Those of us now eating fish
Ingest the plastic waste
And all the real toxicity
And this now must be faced
Our skeletons are toxic
Really its everywhere
Most of us live from day to day
On a wing and on a prayer
Perhaps its wishful thinking
A kind of pious fraud
That the fish upon the msrket slab
Is ofcourse our due reward
We forget the retrogression
Abd the degeneracy
We forget we are in danger
From the toxicity
Coming back to the whale poor soul
He came to ask us to
Help him in his sickened state
But we are riddled through
With all tbe shit imaginable
Our mortality
is also beginning to surface
We are no longer free
We though have to be responsible
Use less plastic every day
Much came with the supermarkets
Who just gave loads away
Use a permanent shopping bag
Never let balloons fly
Each of us must think more
Or the planet is going to die.
Examination at the university of Bergen
On the Cuviers beaked whale
Shot to death
After seeking help from the humans
Found to be full up with plastic
Bags and sheeting.
