Naivasha just 100 KM from Nairobi

The second largest fresh water lake
In Africa
250 sq miles and its cold
Just 15 metres deep
The Rift valley if we leap
Backwards BOAC flights
Were sold
And Would land here
From 1937 for 13 years
They landed on this lake
Its news you couldnt make
Up
But its reality
Really for our sake

BOrn Free and Joy Adamson
Highlighted this place
At the Southern End
Is a sanctuary
CRescent Island
Shows its face
Where anyone can spend
Some time there are no Lions
So we walk about
And feel
Fairly safe from predation
Or Ending up a meal

In the lake the very dangerous
HIppotamus will be
Its undeniably beautiful here
And there us lots to see
GNu and Buffalo the tall Giraffe
ZEbra’s and many Deer
All protected from the poacher
Thats if they appear

Its a crater of a once submerged
Volcano
Thorny acacia trees everywhere
What is truly wonderful about the place
Are the water birds
With their amazing grace
The lake is full of fish
And so the Pelicans those masterful
Great billed souls
Are often seen a fishing on the lake
THe Goliath Heron sedately
Waits and catches the freshest fish
That any bird could take

COrmorants are often here
And many others too
Nesting high in trees
Who send threur great roots
Out of view
Down those 15 metres
Into the bed below
Little tiny islets
Its how they choose to grow

To feel the calmness see the sights
The genuine the soul
Of Africa its vibrancy the lake
Takes on its role
Providing an experience
For migratory birds who come
And indigenous birds who stay here
And share the heart and drum

Of Africa, its grounded self
Kenya can boast aloud
It provides an indelible experience
People should be proud
Of what is a great wonder
A natural idyll where
Animals and birds can come
The cold waters to share

The impact remains amazing
So much life is here
Hardly any human beings
But the animals life
Its clear
Sanctuaries show sound judgement
An attitude of mind
An embodiment of all thats good
As creation does unwind

The spring of our emotion
That coiled up pressured voice
An abundance of wild animals
Surely we must have choice
To come and lay waste to them
Kill them for trophies, we
Westerners with bank accounts
And little else should be

Left to kill and injure
Thats what death’s about
But this place is protected
From the stalwart type of rout
It lends itself to ethic
Of the peaceful kind
Weighted heavily tonthe wilderness
And the animals that find

Their spirit here
Their soulfulness
A blessing to be sure
AFRICA is caring who can
Expect more
Kingfishers and other birds
And ducks All of them seem
To come together to be happy
To be part of this dream

NAIVASHA please remember it
An inevitable blue sky
Vultures in their natural setting
Where there is water, I
Like all the other creatures
Know water is life and we
Must give the respect it warrants
To remain forever free
