Greyhounds to China by removal van

To race dogs and to gamble
on them winning
is highly dangerous
and a frustrating affair
its easy getting
embroiled in all this
mayhem
but one has to be
on track and so aware

They chase a bit of cloth
in the arena
that carries the scent
and encourages them to run
Many though are not given
good diets and some
do not respond, even a gun

does not allow the beasts
to run like crazy
their legs are sore
their poor backs ache
like hell
to race and be a winner
you need a nice big dinner
otherwise you will not
progress well

Every year there’s hounds
up for adoption
they are not coming up to scratch
and they
the owners want to see the back
of most of them
put to sleep
or gassed
that’s how they pay
the hospital will buy
their sad cadavers
experimenting on them
in the lab
trainers out of pocket
have the urge to cut their losses
that’s why the poor things
end up on some slab.

when the cry is heard
Let’s ban these dogs
from racing
shut up in their cages
night and day
often fed disgusting
food
and shipped off here and there
highly strung
and undergoing remnants of despair
questions will be asked
what will become of them
the thousand or so dogs
now running scared
and all the people
in the sad arena’s
and the trainers
the no brainers
arn’t prepared

But then again
the tracks are few and far between
the punters don’t come
like they did before
its gambling on the periphery
and whilst there will be victims
the victims are the
dogs of that I’m sure

Today 24 dogs shipped from Ireland
Ended up near Manchester we hear
Being shipped lufthansa But it could be
Glasgow too or so it would appear
In a white van with no ventilation
A removal company oh dear
What the hell is going on
It won’t be long before they are gone
They must by now be in all sorts of fear

People now all over are on the look out
There are aircraft leaving everyday
This is a rotten business selling dogs to China
From Ireland Via Scotland all that way

Lets hope the shipment can be stopped
And the animals rehoused in UK
