Alaska The Last frontier

Purchased from the Russians in 1867
A vast open wilderness wild as can be
Animal earthlings and many indigenous
Live side by side in the land of the free

The Department of Fish & Game overseas
Life there
Its Facebook page, though is no remedy
With children with innocence
With adaptability
Wide open spaces rhapsodic and free

Sam Cotten the Commissioner
Is in the hot seat
Or should it be cold seat
For tragically, we
Feel very disgruntled and truly crestfallen
On how it is managed
And why it should be

Its such an arena of wild souls
Together
The absurdity though
Is their value is lost
In an arrogant pattern of evil
Toward them
Creation was wonderful
But it has cost

Lives lost it seems from the hands
Of employees
Ignorance reigns of that it is clear
Total mismanagement lacking understanding
Self contradiction and an abiding fear

Ignorance though the disease of the new age
Enlightenment lost in the oil boom where we
See the intimidation upon true creation
The doubters are everywhere it seems to me

Encouraging hunting and fishing and trapping
Its not exploration its murder its wrong
Many misjudgements giving wrong impressions
A basic intolerance now all along

There is no inspiration nor enough intuition
A lot of its guesswork and sophistry
They do not think ahead and examine the evidence
They discriminate widely and so what we see

Are animals trapped torn apart and dismembered
Lost to Alaska lost to the world
And this from employees bound to protect them
But clearly their sickness is now being hurled

On Coyotes a million or so have been murdered
In a vile way by men who should know
Better, Black bears Beavers and Otters
Performing their tasks and helping to grow

A great tourist industry Wolves too and Puma’s
These wonderful animals this is their place
To be shot down and trapped and killed in these sortee’s
So much disrespect and indifference we face

Where is the thinking behind all this murder
What mental process is going on here
What of perception and a real consciousness
Why are you ramping up just so much fear

Humanity talks about vivification
How to hold onto life to that spark we all know
Supporting each other and gaining respect
Not being intolerant to the great flow

Existence is being a realness in time
The gradual progress the eventual climb
All are connected giving and taking
But what you are doing now my heart is breaking

Great Golden Eagles that hang in the sky
That sweep with the thermals why must they die
Caught in the leg traps left on the ground
These are protected birds and we cry when they are found

Lost in contraptions that shouldn’t be there
Left indiscriminately just anywhere
Wolves shot and killed these animals are
Priceless your ignorance it does so scar

The whole of Alaska the footprint you leave
Trying to cover up doesn’t achieve
Anything really it lets people see
And you Mr Cotton how can you be

Allowing this pointlessness this rootless regard
For all the other earthlings who live in your yard
A disequilibrium exists today
Too many excuses when so many pay
A price their finality their destiny
Lost in each debacle the travesty

What you were given the almighty sense
This wonderful wilderness dramatic and tense
Full of great beauty and animals who
Are part and parcel of what you must do
Protect them from your people
Their killing spree’s
A lot of those animals are on their knees
This is not what tax payers want from your team
This super abundance the American dream

Think of your children and their children too
Go back in time how souls thought of you
They were protective and caring enough
To safeguard the future however tough

They saw the value of each soul who be
Put on this earth in the wilds to be free
Not chased every which way and trapped out of sight
And shot just for pleasure they knew what was right

You are the commissioner and you must see
The state of Alaska the land of the free
Remember your adage the animals too
Have a place in eternity along with you
