Emoya

To have a dream is to live to the full
To the full I say for those
Who share true love with the wild wild souls
Who also dream and so suppose
Their heritage was far away
In the mists of time
On another day

Somehow the circus and the store
Scooped them up right off the floor
And took them to a sinful place
Which turned out to be a disgrace
Masirya and Nero the cherubic two
Existing really what was overdue
Was their natural life and their wishes too
To Explore their roots their lifetime through
Affirming to each other they
Were swept up in a great array
Of love and dreams by a couple who
Both were sure what they wanted to do

To save the wild ones where they could
As circus lost its livelihood
Animals deserving a better life
Than ugly tricks and awful strife
But what would become of animals spare
Really there was just no where
Out of the frying pan into the fire
Out of the circus to somewhere more dire

The inventiveness and the hearts desire
Of this splendid couple who failed to tire
They had a dream and they hoped they could
Work together as people should
Surrounding themselves with angels they
Attracted more angels from far away
From South Africa where land would be
Available for them to see

We all have dreams as children and
We make our lives and understand
The meaning if shared can so be
Wonderful for the visionary
STICHTING LEEUW the sanctuary
A place of love and harmony
Of consequence and consistency
Of attunement into harmony
Care was paramount and needed too
For that was really what to do

As the lions matured the dream became
Reality really a flame
Burning in their hearts and minds
And everyone soon saw the signs
Worked towards the ultimate place
Africa and its smiling face
The great blue skies
The burning sun
The place to be
When the day was done

To take them home
To live each stride
They were inseparable
Side by side
A cohesion of the loving kind
That truthfully does blow our mind
A lot of work would have to be
Done the forms the policy
Of getting them back
No easy affair
As everyone became aware

A timelessness a perpetuation
Africa was the great Nation
Two great Lions were going back
Possibly on the same track
Their ancestors had walked before
In far off prides where more and more
Perhaps were captured or hunted they
Must have felt that longing to
Go back and share and try to do

Their great adventure came about
A plane ride though there was some doubt
Would they be fit enough to go
And mentally strong and would they grow
To understand the exhausting flight
Was worth it all for they felt the light
Around them festooning their every thought
Knowing in fact that they were caught

Up in the moment of destiny
They were flying where they would be
Freedom to breathe to run and to play
In the great outdoors now everyday
This was a chance they were waiting for
Africa for evermore
A continuity of space
The horizon more than just a trace
Trees to scratch on
And shade to lie
Out in the sun under the sky

On one hand cages Lions find their way
Into the petting farms that pay
Onto the hunting canned and sure
Corruption from a time before
Trophies and sacks of lion bones sent
Back to the far east who have lent
Some ideas to the farmers who
Braced themselves now here to do

Both journeys now including Lions
And hopefully there are more signs
Since Cecil met his untimely end
That Africa will now defend
Its remaining wild souls
And let them be
Roaming now on land thats free

A happy story of rescue here
Two young souls brought back from fear
Captivity is not the way
Its a selfish and arrogant way to pay
The pipers who will take it on
Till every last sad soul is gone

We have to thank our two friends here
They inserted sense where there was fear
They made it happen the cause was great
And they arranged it all at quite a rate
They both represent man kind well
Created a heaven from a one time hell
They saw it through right to the end
They could be anybody’s friend

Their choice the Lions
A culture to
Enrich their lives in all they do
Its their wellbeing they want to see
A restoration of liberty
A reawakening of spirit for
Actually to so restore

To rejuvenate and to so reclaim
Their playful and ongoing game
So well loved are the rescued two
Who seem to know what they can do
There are no compromises here
Their occupancy is now clear
Gracious living and dignity
And such affection naturally

MASIRYA and NERO
May you live out your lives
True to yourselves
