Fire and the hearth of life

At winter solstice
The term is Yule
When the wintry bite is cruel
Its then we frequently sit close by
The fire of life and remember why

A toasting fork some home made bread
A bowl of chestnuts and that said
Even marshmallows the vegan kind
Watch the flames and clear the mind

The return of the sun
And the light force too
Lets think of Odin
And wander through
The annuls of time
When ancestors too
Sat by the fire
As we now do

As December advances
Towards the day
When the children
Happily come to play
Lets go out for a walk
In the frosty air
Get closer to Nature
And try and share

Some mindfulness
Yea hug a tree
Its waiting for a hug
You see
It stands there hoping
All the year
For the yuletide
Message in your ear
