Why do we love one but not the other

That was the question though the answers are many
Missing the point will there be any
Its all dependant on where you are
As to what you eat near or far

Tradition culture habit we
See all sorts and we know and be
Aware that some eat everything
Insects even on the wing

Cats and dogs and rats and frogs
Alien maybe
To mrs jones or dr jock
But in Vietnam you see

Anything is possible
The picture depicts a farm
With all the normal animals
About to come to harm

But the slaughterman now strokes his cat
While sharpening his knife
About to kill the cow the horse the pig
To take the life

Of those who are deemed to be eaten
And he does what he is told
Whatever animal comes along
Anything to be sold

Alligator or elephant
someone out there will
Authorise the same
and the butcher man will kill

The human race is screwed is doomed
It has no place to go
Killing is its keyword
As many of you know

Some tribes eat each other
And every kind of beast
Worms and snakes and maggots
On all sorts they feast

The picture talks about us more
Its our disingenuous style
All sorts of people living here
Some come for a while

And bring their far off cultures
Bush meat and the like
Indigenous food however crude
From locusts through to Pike

And some of course are vegans
Animals are their friends
Imagine for a moment
the message that that sends

Its a sharing caring attitude
And its helpful to the world
It bolsters all creation
Where each of us is hurled

A cat is a friend not a foe
So why eat cats besides they grow
Closer to us as we all see
The slaughter man though is the key

To how long is a piece of string
Its a theory only that will not bring
Any solution not any more
For in fact on food the worlds at war
