Refugee3. A darkening sky

Its not the world
Its the governments of the world
Its those who rule
People are just fodder
No different from the mule
Sent into the mountains
To carry heavy loads
Or expected to work until it drops
On those rocky roads

People or the faceless hordes
Are just that in their eyes
In the wrong place at the wrong time
Governments surmise
So desperate some of them
They just have to escape
The factions in the country
That would otherwise just re shape

The serpents and the chaos
And the people in the pipe
And all that criminality
Ready to just swipe
The families are all out there
Given in to share
But of course what was delivered
Was absolute despair

The tide turned it was rapid
It took many by surprise
These boats were not sea worthy
There in enabling their demise
Shocking to the cameras
Shocking in the way
Bodies of children are buffeted
In the salty spray

Imagine those last moments
Lost souls seeking, they
Felt the overwhelming forces
Carry them away
Their screams lost on the night sky
Their bodies broken fast
There but for fortune you or I
Alas their die was cast

People who really were they
Hopeful of a new life
But caught up in the maelstrom
They took aboard the strife

On boats
On trucks
On foot they ran
Their limbs torn from them they
Had nothing they were broken
Living for a day

What was left to hope for
Clearly nothing they
Were victims without faces
Drowning in the spray

And finally social network
Picks it up and throws
It out into the media
Thats where the circus grows
We see lost souls emerging
In their broken state
To the tune of just how sorry
It makes us feel of late

Whats happening to people
Whats happening is we
Are rapidly becoming helpless
As the salty sea
Rumbles up behind us
Threatening us so much
So many broken victims
Who thought they were in touch

There but for fortune you or I
Underneath a darkening sky
