Empty those tanks

With the imminent flavour and change of law
One felt the desperation there
Marching together from Leicester Square
In essence trying to ignore

The over riding sense and strain
The countermanding clueless thought
The right of protest we all sought
And were our efforts now in vain?

A meandering pace but our energy
Made up of motley hearts and minds
A togetherness along the lines
Of what just felt like synergy

A sky of blue hung overhead
The impetus for all to see
It’s where our friends were born to be
That message in our head

Snaking this way snaking that
Through the crowded streets we went
Empty the tanks our message sent
Sea world sucks! Was where we were at

Waving placards such a throng
You felt the togetherness yes throughout
It’s significance without a doubt
And that fellowship felt all along

Just brothers and sisters our fondness came
The streets of London packed they were
Our megaphones took up our call
Everyone of us standing tall
Yes that’s what did occur

Slowly we passed Downing Street
Lifted our voices took the stage
Police with machine guns off the page
They weren’t bobbies on the beat

PC49 was gone probably never to reappear
Passed the cenotaph the fear
Of the women lost it did unseat
In me a feeling of tragedy

What had we learned from all these years
All that historic stress and tears
Like an unforgettable parod
A mournful doleful wet eyed mood
The sweet cetaceans stripped of life
Torn from the wild to face our strife
Yes collectively we did allude

To the lost souls we did threnodize
Stolen from pods and sold abroad
Frightened and lost they could not afford
The agony and the dark demise

It was the fuel that drew our power
Into that conflict thus we went
Shedding our tears from heaven sent
Knowing the strength came with the hour

The sun was seemingly above
Sending it’s warmth to comfort and
The jubilation to understand
Our togetherness brought eternal love

A carousel of dresses and boots
Of attractiveness and sublimity
Every cetacean must be free
Of the ugly corporate at their roots

Westminster Station was in sight
Big Ben we clocked him so serene
Next to Parliament where he had been
Providing the time apparently right

We all converged around that place
To hear the speakers one by one
To rest a while for we had done
Our best to put the cetacean case

To Londoners and tourists alike
To people in the London squares
Getting on with their own affairs
The cabs the buses those on their bike

Threading through traffic all could hear
Our message it rose and just seemed to clear
And everyone just seemed to like

The thrill the pent up energy
Wildness was the only way
Thats what we all felt today
Never vile captivity

Even two coppers in Trafalgar Square
Seem to agree their faces bore
And Others,they did not ignore
Our wisdom just to share

The plight of the pods out in the sea
Happily plying their daily lives
Captured by corporate men with knives
This is never reality

All of the souls in the march were giving
Activist angels one has to say
Tarring them as terrorists no no way
They are about the living

The voiceless ocean goddesses who
Make our hearts and minds so glow
They are there to really show
All of us now just what to do

Not to allow the corporate stealth
To denigrate our natural wealth
Empty the tanks Sea world sucks
This is their plea to all of you

To all of you who came to London yesterday and marched for the captured cetaceans it was great to be with you and to support the cause our voices lifted many and we have made a significant difference I am sure

Wonderful poem Rex. It was an amazing event, sharing lots of leaflets, and people actually reading the information. It’s amazing to be with others, doing what they can to share this awareness to people who have no idea about what’s happening in these “aquariaprisons”.

Not the same issue, but similarly related, something i wrote in 2001.

In this time of “fear and doubt”, it’s your chance to stand and shout
Tell your “rulers” whoever they are, in this land or those afar
Black or white, rich or poor, no-one wins in futile war
Forget their rhetoric and all the hype, every government stays true to type
Telling us all they really care, whilst sending death through the air
What if next time you go to shop, you take..the…time…to pause…and….stop
As the goods come off the shelf, you take the time to have a look at your deeper self
In their production how many lives were lost, and were they included in the “cost”
How about instead of self and greed, we stand united with haste and speed
Share your food, become as one, a lot less hate a lot more fun
Dare to care, dare to feel, allow the space for all to heal
A huge, diverse global nation, on this earth a beautiful creation
