Lamentation

Try to imagine
The solace we feel
The pain and the heartbreak
Of knowing it’s real
Being alone
In a hall where the smell
Is of blood
Is of sinew
So much like Hell

The noises the squeals
The frightening yells
A Great Wall of woe
Plangency tells
Each bloody victim
What’s going on
And The tearfulness catches
The throat till it’s gone

We hear the whimpering
We feel each whine
Tear shedding babies
Their heads on the line
Moaning and groaning
Snivelling too
Of course, we belly ache
So wouldn’t you too

Yes we are dispirited
Our glumness shows
Dismal and funereal
Everyone knows

We’re pushed into the killing room
Where the clanging of chains
And the total manhandling
Destroys our brains

Of course, we cry
Deep down inside
There is no relief
The humans have lied

They want to kill us
They choose to eat
They want to cut our throats
Just near the street

Our blood in their gutters
The rats down below
Will sup at our red rivers
Soon down below

Hung up on those gantries
Bled out till we are dead
Our legs then cut off
And then our head

The unsightly slaughterhouse
The darkest of men
Who come with their sharp knives
To promise us when

It’s surely severity
Rancorous guilt
Malignant and pitiless
Up to the hilt

Ruthless hard hearted
Oppressed at the end
It’s the very worst nightmare
And with it they send

Us down into hell
With a blade through our spine
Shaking and splattering
All our blood wine
