Ivory

Every 15 minutes an Elephants dies
Cut down by poachers
Can you hear their cries
Once they were trumpeting
Now they are screams
The ivory hunters
Their present dreams

Come from blood sweat and snot
And more blood, as they hack
The tusks off the elephants
Now on their back
Killed in cold blood
By the murdering scum
Funding terrorism
That beat of the drum

Grows louder and louder
As Africa dies
The monsters are at it
The prey of the wise
Tusks are the new gold
The fortune is there
And As more and more elephants die
It’s more rare

Despite the market being
Terribly cruel
It’s kept alive tragically
By one and all
Governments turn their heads
And won’t see what’s there
With too many at it and getting a share
Is there an answer
I think not today
Corruption is rife
And the peoples decay
Tragically following
Steeped in the pain
Of illicit money
And short term gain
