Envy

the subtlety of envy

can catch you  unaware

it kind of  creeps up on you

it really isn’t fair

it tries to make one beholden

a chauvinistic ploy

to belittle in a thankless way

to ingratiate  to employ

an avenging or repaying notion

unacknowledged by

the victim who may not believe

that anything is awry

it kind of has some camouflage

its not easy to be seen

or even felt its cowering in the high grass

just as green

and this can be quite bothersome

for its often like abuse

and the subtle chauvinism

kind of cooks the goose

and it hurts and there are victims

its profoundly nauseous too

especially when its pointed out

and you realize its you

you have been their victim

and all the while you are

they might just deem to help you

its a kind of working spa

and, you will get pummelled

hurt in many ways

but of course you feel a need there

you are going through a phase

in your life, and the need is there

and, so you might believe

its worth the aggravation

to help you to achieve

but then again you might think

it isn’t worth the price

but I say use, don’t let them abuse

it can happen in a trice

you have to be one step further on

let them think that you

are letting them get the upper hand

when its the last thing that you do

envy   a  4 letter word that packs a hefty punch

it has scant regard for much that’s good

and I tend to use a hunch

there’s a haughtiness about it all

a presumption that insults

a loftiness a cockiness

out just for results

of course there is no humility

for the circumstances to

which  you may feel are stacked up against

the wall

in fact they do

represent a weakness in the patriachal sphere

they will try to get ones back up

and may resort to fear

then it all can blow a gasket

trepidation can descend

after the explosive interchange

things they  can  end

and the end can be the means

and this means  it just can be

another door slammed in one’s face

when it didn’t have to be
