Maroochydore’s Lifepoint Baptist Church
apparently
is to use live animals soon in its display
its a step too far for we
abhor the abuse of animal earthlings
our dominion isn’t
to torment them
for some annual festivity
it smacks at abusing behaviour
a petting zoo is wrong
it isn’t loving
it serves no purpose
they are singing but the song
just truly isn’t positive
for the animals will be
stressed out by the experience
as thousands generally
touch and pat and so forth
imagine how that feels
its torment for those
creatures great and small
and it reveals
the church should re think
its morals
Christmas Lights may be
are not as spectacular
with the live ones there
who have to see
but understand so little
and realise so much
how the broad church is arrogantly
very out of touch
our wish is well for the big show
but the animal earthlings need
respite from this rigmarole
its not their place, indeed
its selfish of us actually
to immerse them in this show
we need to protect the innocent
for by doing so we grow
