Bucharest and its street dogs

2 million live there
the capital city
the Dambovita flows
along to my ditty
north of the Danube
that grey silver sway
and most live within the city
they say

the street children most of them
seem to have gone
in their place are the strays
and a lot live upon
sides of the road in shop fronts
in the park
some in empty buildings
scavenging after dark

packs get together and they
sometimes do
frighten some people
but really its true
they are strays they do breed
there is problems here
but the cruelty aspect
and all of that fear

engendered in this place
one has to ask why
some people are so cruel
and some strays they die
beaten with sticks kicked
it seems people do
get very frustrated with them
that is true

and their view is they ought
to do something and lash out which is
wrong
because after all these dogs
do belong
in Bucharest too
they were born there and so
they have a perilous existence
with those who would show
them harm who would hurt them
hang them in fact
it seems this is how
some people react
