Abe and Davey two survivors ( 2 Beagles)

Hope springs eternal
for two Beagles who
had spent their whole life
in cages
a few
appreciate wildness
but so many see
4 walls of wire
and that’s how it be

so many poor souls
sink into our mire
Beagles are lovely
that’s however dire
we treat them
they don’t bite
just cry that is all
they love interaction
but technicians appal
me
with their heartlessness
corporate stuff
toxicity testing
and still they are rough
with them back in their cages
and back in the lab
its just too and fro
and strapped back on the slab

Abe and Davey are 2 Beagles who
have gone through the mill
both are sensitive crew
broken and lost
by incessant need
the cruelty shows
their eyes kind of feed
their soul and we notice
how restrained they’ve become
being so sensitive
they became numb
to the pain to the agony
to the insensitive way
they they got treated
every day
pipes into their stomachs
syringes as well
toxins and tablets
that make their guts swell
inducing in them some miasma until
in most cases of course something does kill
but these two have managed to get through
it all
and to be re housed
and they did fall
on their feet
now adopted by a family who share
all the love and affection
and all are aware
how love and affection is a cure all in fact
as we see how these traumatized souls now react
happy and peaceful and loving and cute
with love very much now right at their root
