Mila the elephant

The life and times Of Mila
at the Franklin Zoo
where Dr Helen Schofield
knew exactly what to do
she so cared for this elephant
inviting her to try
and forget the life of Jumbo
from the circus
and to try
and live a life
of naturalness
a life where loving flowed
where about 400 animals
lived to her strict code
of really understanding
each animal that was there
each one was a character
and their love she tried to share
But Mila clearly was her biggest
problem
4 tons of elephant
immensely strong
encouraging rewarding
of course that is according
and helping her
feelthat she did belong
that fateful day a year ago
when Mila appeared to get
an electric shock from off the fence
which gave Mila a knock
and Dr Helen slipped inside her enclosure
And Mila picked her up
which did reveal
the majesty and muscle of that moment
exerting too much pressure
now they feel
she was crushed
all her internal organs
had been ruptured
with death poor Helen
clearly had been brushed
now an american keeper
has been working
and Helen’s sister too
has helped to house
they think they’ve found a new place
for dear Mila
for the zoo has closed
and there are not enough hours

Mila needs some company
she’s lonely
and human comforts
are not quite the same
clearly she’s found much love
and affection
but needs a better environment
now they claim
she eats 100 kilos every single day
help has come from quarters near and far
Mila seems to be a happy bunny
and clearly in this zoo
she was the star
