Accord

I have never had an invisible cord
that connected me to anyone
But Today I have that cord that path
that breath that strength under the sun
she knows the power
she knows the care
I now can not go anywhere

I dare not board a plane and fly
for if that cord’s cut
I could die
I never felt like this before
I never did I never thought
that such a cord could ere exist
I did not set out its was not sought

it just happened really
day on day
even an hour
when I walk away
my breath feels shorter
my heart feels weak
I don’t want to go away
or seek

another’s comfort
my reward
is to realise
I still have the cord
that binds me to her
she knows who
she knows and I know
what to do
