How easy it was to drop out of sight
to be seen as a waster
which of course isn’t right
to have no home
and no place to call
yours
just some box
perhaps by a wall
beg with a tin cup
ask those who do
have a home and a job
somewhere they can go to
to look into my eyes
I am as sad as can be
I am so close to tears
yes I am, can you see
my life’s on the rocks
my life is despair
I’ve dropped off the scale
though I’m very aware
I know what I am
Its just I feel low
Down on my luck
with no place to go
the world owes me nothing
that much I see
but I’m not a bum
I’m human that’s me
I can’t get a job
for employers all say
you are no use
just go away
I want to work
I want to be
like everyone else
now staring at me
I want a home
I want to be
able to stand up
able to see
a human being again
when I look into a mirror
