Its hard to watch people
emotional people
who cry and bring on
our tears to for we know
Elephants have such a horrid
existence
shipped overseas
to the big circus show
beaten and made to do
tricks for the trainer
no brainer
for me
its not what Ele’s do
they proudly march forward
across miles of country
searching for water
their widened view
of existence is where
they were born
in that moment
became what they are
and in that mode they stay
foraging, loving their immediate family
that was their purpose
that is their way
so being alone and
stuck in some circus
shipped about daily
walking on concrete
breathing in fumes
shouted at regularly
tethered and chained
life isn’t complete
they must re adapt
to the changes around them
freedom was sacrificed
they after all
are slaves to the man
in the silk suit and top hat
this is the new life
the callers did call
Shirley and Jenny
for 25 years
they have both been apart
and what will they do
humans can never predict how an Ele
its heart its emotion
all clearly true
their memories though
are the constant reminder
friends from the past
they will never forget
and seeing and feeling
you see how revealing
it is when re union
comes and we let
two elephants meet up
Jenny and Shirley
and watch them
and hear them
the trumpeting sounds
the rumbles the tumbles
the ecstatic joyfulness
it comes to the fore
and all else it drowns
love and devotion
the whole true commotion
hugging as elephants do
all can feel
and anyone watching
or reading this poem
must realise all earthlings
everyone of them
deep in their heart
they really do feel
