A chicken is for eating
a silly stupid bird
let me tell you
from the heart
such rantings are absurd
a chicken is a friendly soul
with intelligence
and can
be a friend
I had a lots
before I was a man
when I was just a little boy
I looked after
Rhode Island Reds
2 ducks and one
turkey
housed in my dad’s sheds
an old Anderson shelter
a bomb shelter from the war
along with 20 rabbits
and I know this, for sure
if we treat creatures
lovingly
they respond in kind
but if you are cruel
in any way
you’ll know
and they know
and you’ll find
(it isn’t worth it in the long run)
