Another look at fracking from Joe public’s point of view

The thirst for profit
goes on unabated
the quest for energy
at any cost
home produced is what the
Yanks were after
integrity alas though
has been lost

the risks they took
are so
colossal to the common man
Its profit for the corporate
its all about their coffers
for me its very clear what they
did plan

America looks only at the energy
the cost to produce that energy
me thinks
to the air we breathe
the water
and the environment
few around its seems
connect the links

its not until your water
and your land
becomes a quagmire
or a toxic swamp
and your lost
legislatively
they’ve tied you up
in contracts and in get outs
and they do
really Fcuk with Nature
and our aquifers and
the risks are very grave
well that’s my view

its a vital source and wasting
vast amounts is now suggesting
to the world at large
that America should be
more thoughtful about what it wastes
and why it wastes
short termism
is not the way to be

the gas is chiefly methane
so a greenhouse gas
the methods are as
sick as they can be
in 2011 around 10 million gallons
of toxic carcinogens
extraordinarily
went to earth
for “Energy”
the chemicals they use
abuse our precious soils
its arse about face
they refuse

Fracking we should send the
bastards packing
the problem is we’re lacking
honesty
victims there are armies of them
out there
they’ve lost their rights
their sights to this travesty

their land
their soil
the big boys stole
the lot of it
and no insurance helps
alas its true
victims they are dotted
all around the land
its scary
and its hairy
please be wary

The corporate denials
you must hear them
they’ve got the legislation
on their side
and all of it absolves them
and Joe Public is the one
suffering the trials
and the darkest tribulations
Joe Public yes and Nancy
are undone

wishing they had never gone along with it
that quest for home grown energy
the earthquakes and the earth shakes
and the heartbreaks now that be
a part of life here after
and the threats from industry
water, air, and the little
investments that you had
all of it was swallowed up
and you know now you’ve been had

they’ve tied you up in so many knots
the solicitors were primed
the corporates just walked away
out of the pit they climbed
dusted off their muddy boots
and walked into the sun
and you were left with the misery
and no bullets in your gun
