Its Christmas and nobody wants me

Oh! good
I’m going for a walk
and in Daddies car!
he’s took my lead
and collars
my rubber ball and star
but what does he want all
them for?
its dark and rainy too
“Come on Monster”
out we go
is mummy coming?,
through
the window I can see her
looking quite forlorn
I was off with daddy
how long would we be gorn?

he drove out
passed the garden centre
and, went passed the park
up into the forest
where everywhere was dark
then he drove even faster
the speedo light it glowed
he did look very angry
and I didn’t know the road
to the other side of town
when he pulled up fast
“come on lad its here we’re getting out
my dye was cast
he took my stuff and lobbed it
over yonder
I stayed quiet
wasn’t gonna wander
lets go for a run
then he pulled out his gun
I scarpered like a whippet
and soon found
they wanted to get shot of me
I’d become a pain
costing too much dosh it seems
and now out in the rain
dad was gonna shoot me!
and leave me in some copse
now I’m in the darkness
miles away from shops
from home
even from street lights
and nobody knew now where
I haven’t got a collar on
and for me, its just despair
God knows what my future holds
but I will never be the same
I could end up
experimented on that’s what
some claim
that strays are picked up daily
and carted off to where
they do all sorts of experiments
it really don’t seem fair
no dad or mum to care for me
its Christmas, and I’m lost
I suppose they’re desperate
for everything does cost
the vet bill’s and the cans they buy
the vaccines, I can see
I don’t feel bad about them
but I do feel
sad for me
