Angel (the little soul found in a carrier bag in Toronto)

In a carrier
“Angel” was found
just in the street
upon the ground
a sweet and tender
innocent
lay paralysed,and wanting
in such pain
outside the Mcdonald’s
shop in Toronto
she was lain

and someone with a lovely
heart
found her
Angel, clearly resolute and wronged
scratching at the bag
wrapped up in a rag
clearly no one knew
where she belonged

on her own
just left to face
the big world
a busted spine and ribs
and in such pain
wanting a lifeline
hopeful for a sign
frantic, clearly feeling
all the strain

but showing a resistance
from the put to sleep brigade
from the single mindedness and tenaciousnous
displayed
approval from a band of volunteers
and donors who
decided they must help her
and together
she’s come through

endurance in what could be seen
as hopelessness
this little soul was ready
for to please
determined to show everybody
everything she had
the will to live, and seize
each opportunity
to prove her earnest
sweet resolve
by playing with a ball, a towel
and helping to evolve

a strategy of positiveness
a true determined light
for she had shown them
she had purpose
and a of course a right
well just to be
alive,
who knows the agony
of the past
but she had come through
all of that
her dye
it seemed was cast

her willingness
to single handedly
take whatever pain
and fight to be alive against all
odds
and try again
some semblance of survival
show them tenacity
she had never wanted
to be
put to sleep
her willingness to be
considered
she had won and

saw
the vigour, she was bigger
than the figure
on the floor
a tiny ball of courage
and all of that was raw

those volunteers
were blown away
as you will be I’m sure
to help the other victims
for tragically
there’s more
