Ethel Reel and the Arachnids

Ethel Reel, so does appeal
to Earthlings everywhere
big or small
she knows them all
and their precious lives
does share
the Arachnids were
a race above
and Ethel needed to
learn to use their
protein source
to create silks
good and true

for her work in rescuing
animals
she needed something fine
for abseiling off
of buildings
some tough high
tensile line
she needed all
the where for all
and had the means
to learn
communication was
the thing
mortals some do yearn

the problems for
the human tribe
is they feel
they know it all
they reckon they are
the most advanced
with titanium and steel
but compared, to the spiders
the dark ages are where
humans are and will always be
if spiders they compare

I have to say
she communicates with thoughts
and sight,which is the way
forward for the human race
not electronic spheres
that create powerful negatives
and one day lots of tears

Ethel knew a silk that could
stretch around the earth
would only weigh 500 grams
and that for her, was worth
a great deal for she needed
to take her strength, and be
light, it was just right
the spider silk for her was key
and now she uses 7 kinds of different silk, I hear
and runs up buildings like some
insect would, its very clear
she doesn’t need the standard
paraphernalia to climb
she’s straight up every tree
or building in a real quick time
she wears her skin tight
leggings
mostly spider black
a bodice of rich purple
with her silk pouch on her back
and she lays her lines like crazy
and she climbs for all she’s worth
and there’s no chance of falling
for in weights of gold its worth

Ethel Reel she does conceal
the wondrous sensitivity
when she is with the Human Tribe
and their continued declivity
just watch her eyes
no mortal dares
for if he shares
one forward glance
then he may be under her spell
forever
this is her great strength
its a mesmerizing and elegizing
tranquillizing length
of time and no escape route
for she enters every soul
creates a finite relationship
and in fact has control
all emotion are then hers
to play with and to tame
I love Ethel Reel and I do
but will never be the same
I’m walking in a kind of daze
I’ve lost my will to be
anything but near to her
I feel sick constantly
the days have just got longer
when I can’t see her face
I tell you she has changed my life
for the better I feel ace
younger I’m just wanting
to write and write and write
to be around here every second
of the day and night
