In Factory farms
Humanity
has all but,
been filed away
the human spirit
vanquished
its the price
we’ve had to pay
for sharing this existence
with the corporate world,
where sin
where ugly
scenes of torture
and where rape
and death begin
to take over
what freedoms
the earthlings ever had
and turn their world
completely upside down
and completely mad
The vastness
of these horrors
spread out for all to see
the fear
that’s in the eyes of those
who stand their
silently
huddled close together
feeling very ill
wondering when
the end will come
and fed on
pill after pill
no sunlight
on their sore backs
no fresh air
they can taste
no green grass
they can chew upon
their simple lives
debased
The environment
that we all share
polluted too, for we
see great lakes of manure
a fermenting deadly brew
leaking into farmland
and also used to spray
what a vile concoction
where blue bottles
do play
huge, great colour headed flies
consuming this distress
this woeful ugly dark morass
that few dare to confess
as being now on offer
disease, apparently
very much now on the cards
How we’ve messed up, actually
allowing these great monsters
to take over our land
to kick out the small farmers
which I fail, to understand
except the public have bought into
the hyper super store
who exist by putting pressure
on the price
like ne’er before
And so the mechanization is rampant
everywhere
from grassy fields the cows are kept
on concrete pads they stare
at concrete walls
fed measured GM soya wodge’s, they
get this dried mysterious muck
and get it night and day
dosed up, with antibiotics
with hormones and the rest
purely walking experiments
where docility is blessed
Giant trucks are rumbling
to the abattoirs
carrying the sick
and fearful brood
with lifetime scars
tortured,ped
and dosed up to the eyeballs
and treated to a life
so very crude
despised and even tortured
just for being
just for seeing
what frustration viewed
Humanity, hits the,
central reservation
and lives are lost,
its carnage to be sure
the animals many of them
are just victims
the environment is too,
but there is more
the consumers are not getting
what they think they are
for the victims are dosed
up with so much, they
don’t know where they coming from
they are so very sick
Lame, sores, lack of caring
day after day
The factory farms are growing
exponentially
swallowing up the fertile
lands of old
varied grasses and organic wild plants
soon laid bare, and worthless as the
cows have all been sold
costs and margins
seem to be key factors
that corporates
now concentrate most on
the animal is a commodity
there to be subjected
to an overhaul of principle
upon
Man is not beguiling any longer
he is far removed from the human
we believed
walked this earth in sympathy for others
his sanity can never be retrieved
his insistence of a margin
above everything
lowers his good standing
to a point
where humanity apparently
won’t re surface
and what he has become
doth disappoint
