Legacy

What do we live
with this legacy for?
a world full of hatred
a world full of war
we’re killing ourselves
so what chance have they
the animal earthlings
who continue to pay.

Fooled and cajoled
with the planned pipes of woe
the Dolphins of Taiji
now in the flow
their vast intelligence
squandered again
in a bloodbath and curdling
violent refrain.

Our hearts the animals lovers
who know
their deaths are a waste
though these transaction grow
animals traded, from the abyss
stolen, each sacrifices
financial bliss

What of the Seals
of Cape Cross and beyond
Namibia’s dark secret,
an unscrupulous bond
is broken each year
as the suckling pups die
under the weight of a pain
sodden sky.

infants, their milk not of
tenderness, no!
but of bludgeoning warriors
grappling glow
cut down, the squeals
of an innocent tribe
on the sand that reveals a satanic
vibe.

bulldozed and covered up by brutish
souls
who work with pure evil
and leave with their goals
intact all the blood covered
up and there in
lies the souls of these infants
who witnessed the sin.

bring in the tourists
who marvel and sigh
at those Seals the seals who
now inwardly cry
cry for their babies
such pain, and such woe
searching our souls
for the voiceless
below.

in Canada too
the Harp Seals have found
they stand accused
and in their blood
their drowned
battered and smashed
in a violent display
of debauchery
in the most devilish way

we send them forward
their Heavens concur
we talk of Fish Stocks
whilst claiming their fur
that is the truth of it
financial gain
from this
disposition
comes terror and pain.

What of the Tigers?
the bones of the past
TCM claims them
as we stand aghast
Blake’s, iconic Tiger
in the forests at night
stalking their prey
no regard for what’s right

ambushed by poachers
lost to the world
cut up and shipped off
and packed up and hurled
Traditional Medicine
answers the call
and the affluent Chinese
sort through the haul

those bandits decisions
are based on pure greed
for money its funny
the great Tigers feed
and are lost to the world
in a prelude of pain
like the Rhino whose horn
plays another refrain

the Trophy boy’s hide
and those canned hunting ways
in fact more lowlife
that tragically plays
into the base character
who admire
the sound of the fallen
lost in the fire

their bullets well aimed
more lives are claimed
a photo shot beamed
far and wide
an outcome
of dumbing folk down
it appears
something so far
not denied.

and then there’s the Bees
collapsed colonies
and of course there’s a result
pollination the ruse,
the significant news
the Bee’s cataclysmic revolt
their honey, their bounty is
stolen away
and replaced by refinement
that’s what we say.

as alchemy is plundered
replaced by desire
to replicate honour
too close to the wire
such deceit, and disregard
with our arrogance, we
in our make believe world
discounted the Bee

Those farm animals
everywhere
The Cow, Sheep and Goat
not forgetting the Pig
a fellow of note
all admirably rewarded
for docility
with torture and murder
and depravity.

billions of souls
cling to airborne desire
spirits whose own karma
scorched by the fire
descend, a crescendo of bleating and moo’s
of baa’s and great grunts
where insanity view’s
the fallen perhaps
in the uglier realm
the slaughterhouse violence
which does overwhelm

the innocents spirit
that flash of the knife
cuts through the jugular
ending the life
of angelic spirits
who gave up so much
transported in great trucks
of death which do touch
the hearts and the minds
of a few who do care
who share the same pain
and who try to be there.

The primates who put up
with capture and strain
shipped around the world
for financial gain
whether it be to Zoo’s
or the Laboratory
for experimentation
exploratory

The Blue fin
its energy bursts into view
a great flash of silver
exciting the blue
trapped by the seine nets
the vilest device
for murderous intent
carried out in a trice

all manner of creatures
fall victim today
sea birds and Dolphins
all of them pay
Leatherback’s too
caught up in the swim
a melee of bodies
full up to the brim

Elephants once again
Tuskers alone
are picked off by Poachers
who lower the tone
as to freedom and humility
for a great soul
the biggest land animal
still there’s a toll

Many still sacrificed
to the desire
to sell on their ivory
clearly this dire
practice continues
while shadows of fear
continue to loom
large as life
so I hear.

Man has an innate
disregard for those who
he feels are the voiceless
his dominion in view
he feels its his larder
and he can partake
of whatever he feels like
and sup from the lake

their milk and their skins
and their fur and their all
for man has dominion
he answers their call
working with his bible
he imagines that he
can do what he wants
and forever be

Alligators, Emu’s the wild Tribe
now see
they’re being targeted too
tragically
stripped of their skins
and their flesh, is sold
Restaurants and
internet caterers hold

Sway over them
Dogs and Cats too appear
Rats even, insects
its all very clear
the being that’s human
has morals that stretch
connivance the silence
of the rabid wretch

absolved from all guilt
and so animal souls
are tortured and crippled
are trapped for their roles
in civilization, its just subjugation
the merest of thoughts
sees no obligation
to care for or feel
a role change of sorts
industrialization
its
pure
exploitation
