The Orangutan’s great sensitivity also inspired by my friend Michelle Desilets

The Great Apes hold such love
within their being
Their eyes portray such
feeling
they all seeing
They live high in the canopy
and up there they can be
Aware of all the happenings
and are, for they are key

Logging out the forest
loss of habitat
loss of one’s surroundings
is stressful, where we’re at
allows us to put roots down
to satisfy our soul
to calm ourselves
and know ourselves
and be in some control

But the great trucks and the saws
and axes rumble
slash and burn is thunder to
our ears
the acrid smell of smoke
cuts through our senses
and heightens in us millions
of new fears
our favourite trees, the fruits
we love to sample
like highways in the sky
where we peruse
all that’s happening in our world
and down below where evil’s hurled
as one by one our precious trees
we lose

Each baby that we have and hold and love
has hope,
innocence and a fascination
for every’thing that’s natural in this great
big world of ours
which honestly we view with gratification
our surroundings, and our friends
and of course our relatives
but as days pass we accept times
do seem hard.
Pollution is the revolution coming
Bush Meat yes we all are now on guard

the fires that rage, the smoke that chokes
the loss of trees that feed
all symbols of the new world where
its so hard to succeed
we have some friends, its very true Foundations
that do try
they help us and when we fall foul
are ready to reply
to help us in their sanctuaries
that is very true
but the best place for Orangutan’s
is the canopy, the view
is really from the elders
who have lived life to the full
they have suffered at the hands of man
they feel the forests pull

they know the writing’s on
the wall
as the corporates do strive
to clear the forests quickly
so that soya plants can thrive
the Pharma gangs are on our case
the Palm Oil people too
the American Bio Pirates
who want a piece of you
but hopefully we will overcome
with our human friends in tow
those who love us for what we are
Whom we do love you know.

I am obviously no expert on poetry-but if something I read makes me think then it must be inspiring musn’t it?I read your previous poem & to be honest I didn’t like it-it made me sad,is that the intention?See what I mean(no expert!)I absolutely adore Orangutans and I want positive, happy things to read about them-not much chance of that at the moment is there?:( This poem is a more personal story, liked it better-I wish for a brighter future for these beautiful apes and I would love a Happy Poem for them-no expert,an optimistic dreamer that’s me!

Thanks Judy for your comments I know what you mean my Poetry is based loosely lets say on fact thate facts are not very happy for the orangutans
Palm Oil is at present taking out habitat I can always write something to make you happy but reality is not happy for them at the moment or for the indigenous or for
all the other creatures living in the rainforests around Malaysia Borneo times is very difficult for them, I will write you a nice story if you want but whilst it may makew you happy it won’t necessarily be fact just a nice story. Thanks so much for your comments though to actually have feedback is lovely. The first poem was trying to get the sounds of the rainforests being chopped down the saws and the axes and the trucks and all that aggression that is happening in Brazil in Argentina In Indonesia, In Malaysia.
I shall be there in November to check it out again first hand but capturing reality is not always easy reading I must admit.

Thanks Rex for your reply,It is probably my wishful thinking that I only want to read the positive about Orangutans in the hope that positivity breeds good fortune!Ever the optimist,I believe that if you can see always see a bright light ahead,no matter how small,it will only get brighter the closer you get & never go out.Your poems are very powerful,if I closed my eyes I could see the devastation & the panic in the first one where as in the second it was very green, very high, very vocal.Yes it would be lovely to read a happy poem-maybe when you return to the forests you will hopefully find a less bleak picture(somewhere deep in the forest?)Than what the world is seeing now.One day, soon I hope, the forests will have peace & security-theres too many people fighting their cause.Safe trip and thank you.

Can one simply declare such a reduction to find somebody that actually knows just what they will be speaking about online. You definitely discover how to provide a concern to be able to gentle and earn it essential. More and more people have to look at this and also see why part in the history. My partner and i cannot feel you aren’t very popular since you definitely possess the present.
