A Kookaburra
sang
but not in Berkeley Square
but in the lovely Serpentine
National Park
thats where
on a serene
Eucalyptus, a specimen
so high
with myriads of silver leaves
waving in the sky
his tell tale voice
it moved me
more so than a Nightingale
Berkeley Square is too far away
But in this sunlight, pale
with Lorakeets so tame
about my feet
and a Cockatoo
I have to say
I loved his voice
The Kookaburra, who
is seldom heard
around these parts
so I understand
but the silence of the moment
made his voice sound really grand
(I am indebted to my darling friend
Cristina who brought me here
for breakfast)
