I am Nanuk, a Persian Cat
Born in old Iran
My guardian is Lone Wolf
And he’s a fine young man
His heart is with the animals
His feelings with the birds
His soul is with the wild wolves
And he has a gift with words
The other night he came home
He’d been visiting someone
And his scent was very different
A wildness that did stun
I snuggled up,and buried my nose in his clothes
And knew
Through all the generations
That potency came through
The Nile that raging torrent
Its anger in the clouds
Stalking in the wetlands
In the tall long grassy shrouds
A solitary fellow,
ambushing wild prey
A Jungle Cat’s ancestral scent
Is what I smelled today
And leaping for those fishes
And catching birds in flight
Aware of some bold crocodile
Who will use his guile and might
A Bear even a Jackal, those creatures
win respect
That minty reed where the wild feed
In whose bosom, I detect
Such majesty, such peacefulness
I lie there circumspect
Imagining the firery breath
The slobber and the gait
Of a wolf or two thats broken through
And is about to show its trait
Lone wolf has seen a Jungle Cat
A survivor in Tehran
Who was fortunate to come on through
All the stresses caused by man
And its innocence and its sharing
With another soul Lone’s friend
Who also has a heart of gold
And is prepared to tend
To love and nurture a wild thing
To encourage it to be
Ready in a few short months
To return to savagery
The wild ones live their lives
and run the gauntlet every day
Sometimes as I sit beside the fire
Close to Lone, I pay
Some sweet respects to my ancestors
Whose prowess won the day
Now I hardly ever go out
and feel the air
I’m a pretty handsome Persian Cat
Who truly loves to share
My life with Lone my guardian
Who feeds me and who cares
He, never ever, raises his voice
He, never ever, swears
He is a vegan through and through
And I have to say
I love him too
Its funny The scent of that Jungle Cat
Reminded me where I was at
