More on Hydraulic Fracturing this time in Bergton Virginia

Find a nice idyllic spot
a peaceful little town
Near the Blue Ridge Mountain range
and thrust
the great drills down
a mile or so
into the earth
into the marcellus shale
Millions of gallons of water
sand and salt then sail
downwards with some vile unknowns
The shale cracks yes en masse
And back up comes the energy
in the form of gas
Oh I forgot
not only gas
but so much water too
But now its contaminated and then can get into
It can spray over everything
or creep out of the ground
Or leak into the water table,
that too has been found
Bergton is a charming
little place in the foothills where
Natural beauty
a cute exhuberance
just fills the air
And here the hydraulic fracturing
will risk contamination
To me its only corporate players
offering salvation
Earthquakes often happen,
Thats the reward you get
From Environment degradation
in fact a lifetimes debt
And all this contamination
will be stored in open pits
To be trucked away on
Metal Dinosaurs
Road surface splits
May happen, not the kind of
Transport seen on minor roads
18 wheelers rich exhausts
And very heavy loads

theres little one can ever say
Thats positive about
this dirty filthy business
That seemingly does flout
The laws about clean water
The laws about clean air
The Shenandoah River may not escape
something to beware
In my heart we must take a step back
Ponder for a while
Short term profit for the few
We can never reconcile
it makes no sense to squander
What God had put before
A place of significant beauty
And what we are here for
