Plea from an animal trapped under wire

I’m all tangled up
in the wire of this trap
each time I try to find
me a gap
it digs in my shoulders
it tears at my neck
the pain is excruciating
oh I look a wreck
rest a while hope above all hope
I can
free myself from this
before the man
comes and dispatches
me to kingdom come
that place far away
where all creatures
are dumb
but I don’t want to die
honest i hope
some nice soul comes
by and helps me to cope
