Asian Elephants

The present greatest animal

roaming in the wild

The Asian  Elephant

its existence being defiled

by man do called the mindful

who is in conflict they

want the land where Elephants live

to farm and  build

today

we see the consequences

numbers dwindling fast

ivory is still  a thing

numbers unlike the past

perhaps half the number

and hunting too we see

respect for their magnificence

iscdwindling tragically.

painting tusks pink seemingly

Is a  feature  people try

To dissuade the  poachers

and reduce those who die

man has remained a monster

in his dark abuse

temples logging tourism

their grandeur is a noose

around their poor necks sadly

the Elephants though large

need this somewhat futile help

to try to camouflage

their existence as exploitation

for slavery   We see

ignorance thus growing

and no humility.
