The trade in animal parts is causing terrible problems amongst wild animals

Almost every living creature
in the world today
China’s got its eyes on them
and seems not prepared to play
fair and this encourages
poaching and we
see
big black market operatives
and criminality
the seriousness of sourcing
materials today
from dwindling numbers of animals
means there’s a price to pay
myths clearly exist with certain
body parts and they
are often from the rarer souls
wild animals in decline
protected in vast game reserves
where their lives are on the line
With China’s growing population
gaining a foothold
more of them are affluent
and feel the need to hold
onto TCM
which sadly does encompass much
herbal and animal content
and its grown a lot as such
The Rhinoceros, the Tiger
The Pangolin these three
are really being slaughtered
and the numbers left now be
worrying
its frightening each sacrificial lamb
being murdered in the field
now at ad nauseam

elephants now for their skin
monkeys for their head
snakes to make souls stronger
turtles, its been said
increases ones longevity
sea horses now so few
deer antlers,and dog penises
every point of view
and almost every animal
thats still alive today
the Chinese want some part of it
and are prepared to pay

and this creates some mayhem
which reaches all the way
to where the animals come from
and local men may play
a part they want to make some cash
for they are really poor
and the market thus appeals to them
and now we have a war

between the local hoodlums
the big black market gangs
the criminals on both continents
which is where the problem hangs
animal rights and C I T E S
and many more besides
are battling to save them
and on the lot this rides

bears, insects and monkeys
its as long as all our arms
every single creature
is at risk, they have no qualms
they trap, they kill, they break the law
its all about the hard cash
and its hard to see how this can stop
when so many are so brash

But in Africa and India
the victims we all see
sawn off horns and bloodied hulks
babies too who be
murdered by these rotten gangs
who face death well prepared
they seem to be so organised
and seemingly not scared

but sadly there’s corruption
with the cash sloshing about
Government people, officials
yea, people with clout
prepared to turn a blind eye
to the goings on, of some
the official bags
in their shiny jags
and the assorted scum

so what is going to happen
China has the power
TCM is growing
almost on the hour
there’s not a lot of money
around to save these souls
its mostly down to charities
who take on all these roles

so we shall have to watch this space
and use the ether well
hopefully we can open eyes
and show these fiends from Hell
that really the wild animals
are what we need to see
really alive and kicking
for all eternity
