Wild Life a closer look

The leopard
a shadow in long grass
who moves
slowly and gently
and naturally proves
his spots
are as perfect a camouflage, he
can run with the wind
that his green eyes can see

his pinkest of noses
the guile of the green
he climbs so effectively
a hunting machine
who depends on some luck
but his prowess to learn
to walk with such softness
for you see
he does yearn

to bring
down impala
and so ascertain
some fresh juicy steak
from the heat of the plain
here comes some Lions
the bickering breed
they also are wanting
on something to feed
sinking ones teeth
into a fresh kill
and drinking the blood
they inevitably spill

the sun bakes the earth
at incredible speed
to lie up a while
after a feed
is the sensible way
and all wild folk know
to be out in that sun
for too long can throw

a spanner straight into
the works
so to say
and really mess up
what could be a good day
