Cry

Animals, do make me cry
their honesty, is really why
they love us
unconditionally
it really is no mystery
Cupboard love we call it
identifying traits
from humans when in point of fact
they have plates and plates
of love, real love,
true and honest love
given freely, they
we often don’t deserve it
but they give it anyway
they really do not care a sod
if we’re rich or poor
whether we are dressed to kill
or live outside the law
animals, they make me cry
they love us even when
we punish them and hurt them
I mean the hunter men
out there in the darkness
hiding with their guns
the crossbows and their nasty hearts
even with their sons
ready,so to slaughter
but those animals do trust
they may sense humans near them
but they do not know disgust
its only love that’s in their heart
imagining, we care
and its not until that vilest twang
and that arrows in the air
that they realise the outcome
is ghastly, and they know
the human has just let them down
that’s when my tears do flow
