“Foxy”

Close to where I live
Wild foxes like to roam
Quite close to Berkhamsted castle
Clearly they are at home
Beautiful wee wild folk
The most curious of souls
Secretive and timid
They have taken to their roles
Quietly in the mornings and evenings
They will ply
In the woods and copses
These little fellows fly
Four toes on both fore and hind
A tell tale with a prominent heel
They should be respected
For they are very real
When walking normally they tend to
Place their hind feet where
Their fore feet were
You get a kind of double print
Concur
Its as if a creature is hopping
One legged if you will
I so love foxes actually
So that hunters when they kill
A beast thats truly wonderful
It Tells me that they are
Actually the pests themselves
And the dear fox is the star.

At about two in the morning
Driving through Ashridge I
Often see these beautiful souls
In My headlights And why
They seem to wander aimlessly
And on the edge they stare
The countryside is beautiful
And I am glad that with me they share

Their secrets
That overpowering magickal stare of theirs
