Form and contours
Posture she
A living sculpture
Using dance to move
To let us see
Thrown as if the sculptor
Returned to polish and
Cut out and mould and fashion
Lick into shspe by hand
The music has its vibrance
That a woodpecker might make
Might generate in a forest
With a little give and take
An evenness a symmetry
A harmony of soul
And with her relative nakedness
The bird is in control
The corvid’s ebony feathers
Clasping talons rock
A complete equilibrium
Which masks each naked shock
Rhythmic rawness congruent
With wind swept branches she
Together with her valiant crow
Dance in majesty
A mystery of proportion
No twist no stress no strain
Bending stooping swirling
A bosomy refrain
Perfection strongly favoured
And depicted in this way
Aligned to all things wonderful
About a bird today
