Prince of Winter

In all of existence
There is one such as I
The apex predator
With a green eye
On the land that surrounds us
And the wintry blast
That tests our abilities
To run so fast

To identify game
To eat and to be
Alone with my thoughts
And my wish to be free
Look into my eyes
The great depth
I pursue
The distances covered
Whilst thinking of you

My mate
My dear friend
My partner in time
Heading our pack
On our great upward climb
Out through the wilderness
Royalty we
Superior beings
Both of us be

In the shade of tall trees
Under the sky
We drink from the river
And ask ourselves why
Man wants to kill us
Our chief cause of woe
Is that sad human beings
Just hate us so

We have been here for aeons
Long before man
We are the sculptors
Of the eternal plan
As to prey and predation
We work it well
But men cometh often
With their fire sticks from Hell
