The Barbecue at Sue and Kevin’s place
In their garden green
The reason is the guests are dogs
Six of them And the scene
is geniality
Its a once a year thing they
All look forward to it
Having it on Christmas Day
Or Yule thats what it is known as
And its quite a game of chance
Sue and Kevin cook up bones
Whilst donkey does his dance
Johnty and Tessa the labradors
The munchies they adore
Chuckie he is the PIttie type
Whose always very sure
donkeys he is the smallest
A little black and tan
Loves to dance about a bit
And really he is a fan
Tegan likes to lay and watch
Insects on the lawn
Max and Skam are cats
They clam
up, it seems and yawn
But when the fire is burning
And the moths are around the flame
Thats when Mr Smeagol’s
hobbit impressions bring him fame
Max and Skam are moggies
And tease the dogs like mad
Susan is their mummy
And Kevin is their dad
Animals have memories
Animals, they know
When its getting near to Yule
They hear the HO ho ho
The big man on the chimney stack
Practicing like mad
At climbing down the chimney
With presents that he had
Made in a far off factory
And brought in via a sleigh
With bells and and jingle jangles
Its the order of the day
A barbecue with soup bones
Boiled up an aperitif
Its gets them really jumping
And its so good for their teeth
They interact and clearly enjoy
The merry spree
Of eating dancing and playing
Its where they like to be
Slurping up the soup
And crunching down on bone
All the animals love the party
The past times it has shown
How Mr Smeagol does his dance
And remember the GOllum accent
Possibly by chance
South Africa is hot some days
Baking on the ground
But in the evening it can get
Cooler I have found
And so generally they set it
And, watch how it burns
With whole logs after kindling
That truthfully it turns
They all love their mummy
Susan does them proud
The soup bones are an instant hit
And of course then they all crowd
Around her feet a yelping
“Can we have some more”
This is what our bones need
And we so adore
Chuckie can be funny
Often he exclaims
My name comes from the Cinema
A film and then he names
Chuckie yes the demon doll
Who puts the wind up some
But says that he is not like that
And will always be their chum
Johnty and Tessa the Labradors
Are friendly oh they are
Nothing they wouldn’t do for you
And they can run quite far
They love to eat the munchies
But washed down with some stock
Mr Smeagol has good hobbits
And really is a rock
Susan really is drawn to him
He is a handsome lad
Strong and bold and is clearly sold
On Susan and his dad
Donkey he’s the black and tan terrier
Quite small
Thats why they call him donkey
To give him face thats all
Tegan he is the Ridgeback cross
Another handsome soul
Likes to lay out on the grass
And kind of take control
Max and skam they run about
And like to climb up trees
Balls of cord can test their nerve
As can the honey bees
Its a happy household
A menagerie of sorts
A really loving place to be
With all those AR thoughts
The barbecue is imminent
The dogs all know the time
You can feel their excitement growing
It doesn’t need this rhyme
It is poetry in motion
To see and feel their glee
As they slurp down all their lovely soup
And then come and lick me
This household is so fabulous
The animals they know
Their human friends are wonderful
And just to really grow
Up in such a household
Where the humans love and care
Is brilliant its beyond all words
And we all love it there
And really we all get on
We all are rescued hounds
Even the cats are rescued
So really we have grounds
To stay here for together
Thanks to dearest sue
Its just like rainbow bridge on earth
With our yuletide soup bone brew
