Stone Henge is where we are standing
An iconic circle and we
On this hallowed ground must wonder
Just now where we be
What now lies still under
Where each of us stand
Are there ancient chapels
Underneath this chalky land
Prehistoric pits and alignments
Burial mounds that share
Ominous retribution
If we tunnel there
Just to ease our traffic problems
We might actually try
And disturb all those leys and lines
Of energy close by
Possibly 3000 years BC
A temple some have said
Was built under the henge where we
Now stand and the long time dead
Will utter their own cries of woe
If we dare to feel
That we can move them from the place
And suddenly reveal
The boundless ancient energies
Perhaps the space bound one
Yule is celebrated here
The rebirth of the sun
The longest night and the shortest day
In the wheel of life
That just rolls away
Hear the ghostly cry
Of the woebegone
When the diggers start
Out there upon
The 303 to Glastonbury
To Exeter and further on
Has no bearing on all of this
For herein lies a place upon
Tween the planets and beyond the stars
Where the ancient
God may lie
In bountiful surrender
Underneath the frosty sky
To the Druids who imagine
It is a good idea
My thoughts are that it isn’t
And will never bring us cheer
We must route the road another way
This iconic circle should
Stand the test of time my friends
Wherein lies only good
But disturb it at your peril
For therein we shall find
Disturbances that go beyond
Any thinking mind
The darkness it may sever
The passages to where
The footings of the diggers need
To honestly beware
