When I got to my Hotel
it was early
Quantas had worked wonders
on the flight
A special vegan breakfast
Thanks to Lonnie
But getting into Cairns
Just wasn’t right.
The shuttle bus was waiting
at the airport
I shuffled on and sat there
on the floor
The driver said I was the only pick up
and took me to my hotel, I was sure
It looked good on the Esplanade, a lovely place
a sweet reception
sumptious to a tee
But booking in they said I was too early
Right now its not the place
unfortunately
They then confused me with a man
Doug Taylor
They booked me in a room with a big bath
That would just have been a bit disastrous
I told them that with a little too
much wrath
The manager came out and told me firmly
I was too early so go and return
I was hot and bothered
For it was hot outside
I went to see the Aboriginal gallery
Huge it was with myriads of things
But I just could not sit down
and so I left
and walked back slowly praying for some wings
I found a cafe
entrance in the Hotel
The Wink Cafe and fell into a chair
Barry from the Isle of Man then served me
With a tired salad
which just wasn’t fair
Chris the manager then came and told me
My room was ready and I went
up to
The room it was designer chairs
impractical for me
Marshmallow everywhere
that I could see
I showered and went off to the
Lily Pad Cafe,
In Grafton Street
a taxi ride away
Had a splendid salad and a lovely glass of smoothie
and chinwagged with the owner half the day
Later I received a call from Kuranda
The coach would come tomoroow I hour late
First I would go to Tjapukai
Then skyrail and the Kuranda train
I went to sleep that night
just feeling great
