Like anything around these days
if there’s money to be made
the animals participating
on their souls are laid
all the pain and suffering
for in essence what we see
is something thats expendable
just a commodity
I have never liked the fact
that the money is intense
the punters come to see the races
I do not think they sense
how its regulated
what of the horses how
are they made ready for the race
to me we’re in the now
and in that state of consciousness
money is the key
and some will go to any lengths
to win or at least to be
and we have a living breathing
soul a horse, to think about
it has a heart it has a soul
of that there’s little doubt
the sort of heavy running
they really have to do
put untold pressure on their
bones and joints
just to get through
without the drugs and hormones
seemingly its hard
enhancing drugs apparently
are injected now to guard
against all sorts of happenings
and the horses take it bad
their feet and legs are damaged
it really now is sad
some jockeys show contempt for them
some trainers even more
and so abuse is happening
of that Peta is sure
in the US every single week
24 horses die
thats 24 souls
just perish
we have to ask now why
pain masking drugs
are given
performance enhancers too
to speed up their metabolism
injections not a few
all the time they are getting them
and that’s despite damage too
so the horses have to run with injuries
which they shouldn’t do
some come back from their races
crippled
no wall no Z bars, they
the pain must be excruciating
just walking, they say
is awful for those animals
so to race well, its abuse
the industry just closes ranks
and thinks up an excuse
the bottom line is agony
and unbelievable pain
horses feel it in their legs
all that extra strain
the bones develop and take time
4 years or so before
really they can take the stress
and strain and thats the score
Horse racing is a business
the horses all they are
is commodities
they are expendable
and that sadly is sure
fired in what is happening
and why so many die
or end up in the knackers yard
with, well, tears in their eye
