On the globe of the world
it is some 6 per cent
of the total surface
a hell of a dent
AFRIKA
1.1 billion people
and they
are the youngest by far
which is a great way
to begin the march forward
this great nation called
Afrika
head up
it is hauled
forwards and upwards
and into the light
54 sovereign states
one hell of a sight
the oldest inhabited country on earth
with mineral magic
and multiple worth
its great feral kingdom
has gems in the field
vast tracts of desert
and forests to shield
wonderful animal
primeval beasts
iconic and true
myriad cultures
and skies ever blue
Afrika colours
the vivid the fine
those wonderful rivers
the people divine
the music
the drums
the soul and the heart
Afrika Afrika
she does impart
hope to the world
vast wonderful thoughts
she sings with such vibrancy
such beauty she sports
Afrika stand up and look to the sea
where the elephant trumpets
“save my ivory”
where the Lion roars
but not in the anger but through
the night sky he wonders
now what we may do
the giraffe on the high trees
the zebra him too
the crocs in the lakes
all know what to do
Afrika Afrika
land of the great glow
where energy bursts forth
as we now all know
