Rookery Nook

Rookery nook
Appeared in a book
For a lady who once danced
To classical music
And her steps they enhanced
Each dignified performance
Skillful was her gait
Now older she
Lives peacefully
Moves slowly to create
An open fire
Of logs and coal
A chimney at a height
On wintry nights she reminisces
And enjoys the wintry light
And in Spring wild souls did visit
A scourge apparently
Each visitation flight
Down the chimneys opposing forces
Ash and soot and the resources
Nesting in the trees away
Coming to her cottage grey
Thriving and flourishing was their need
With diligence really they succeed
Into her room where her discipline
Flapping wings all in a spin
Her willingness to let them free
They acquiesce as if to be
Not restrained in any wsy
Inhibited little.so to say
Treating them with real accord
To tolerate and so reward
Their cool beeseeching attitude
Met with panicked fortitude.
