I remember back in 43
Eighty over years ago
A famous man a politician
Took on Hitler in a show
The people of these islands were
Under the German hun
And they were very grateful
for what this man had done
He stood and faced the enemy
The wrongdoers whose war
Was bombing us almost every day
Yes hooligans at our door
Churchill yes he took the lead
His voice his stature and his power
Took on the might of the Germans
A comfort every hour
His courage and commitment
His verbal communication
He rallied folk to show courageously
Thus creating our salvation
Today we hear malignancy
And rancour seemingly
A statue erected in Churchill’s honour
Vandalised it be
Disrespected our wartime leader
A surfacing illegitimacy
Injurious and unforgivable
One-sidedness it feels to me
Disrespecting our parents wishes
Those of us who were alive
Children in the throes of evil
With his help we did survive
Moral fibre he enhanced it
His sense of responsibility
To see his memory disgraced and spoiled
Is inglorious and questionably
Treacherous to his memory
