Big spotty

It stands in Yuin country
New South Wales south coast
For 500 years it reached to the sky
A spotty gum, that’s most
Amazing to behold
A giant to our eyes
The forest under direct attack
But so many don’t realise

Protection comes from the many trees
From soil stability
Water balance
A rich web of life
The Logging travesty
The Aborigine focus
Innate mindsets that show
The need to maintain their presence
That creates the eternal glow

The elders feel their presence
For centuries on the land
They know the ultimate value
They really understand
The very need is obvious
Destruction clearly will
Illustrate to the arrogant
That their ignorance is still

Endemic in the Eastern Parts
The need is clearly there
To safeguard all these amazing trees
For otherwise despair
Is evident and coming
Destruction tragically
Will see a vengeful fury
And what will turn out to be

Absolute improbity
Opportunism rife
Ignoring Aboriginals
Creating so much strife
500 years the oldest tree
It’s striving growth creates
The truest testimonial
It’s duteousness awaits

Dhurga, Walbanja and Djiringanj
They are so aware of the trees and their place
Gulaga mother mountain

Go into the forest
Feel it’s heartbeat

And appreciate its resoluteness
