The Douglas Fir

Today close up

i met and touched the Douglas Fir

in the family it’s the tallest

so we hear

brought to the United Kingdom

in 1827

By a botanist  one David Douglas

a tree that loves the rain

where it’s in its Heaven
and it’s energy did  gain

a softwood bearing cones

pollinated by the wind

Can reach 120 feet

a deeply furrowed bark

it gives off so much oxygen

and Wherever it grows

it leaves it’s mark.

a giant to be close to them

And stand on the same ground

can actually live a thousand years

6 to 800 normally

squirrels, martens, finches

birds of prey

Up against them is to see

miracles everyday.

every Douglas Fir we see

up close let’s kneel and pray.

giving thanks  appreciating

everyone in every way.
