Acorns 2

It’s the end of September

theres grey in the sky

awelfa is basking

in sunshine on high

this mast year  is providing

a bumper crop

of Acorns all over

the garden,

no stop

already sprouting

a white slippery tail

wanting  to possess

the earth, never fail

Gods creative gift

in the moisture we see

saplings are growing

Infinitely.

proving the life force

of the Sessile Oak

is really magnificent

it doesn’t choke

buried under the

leaves

soon it does grow

to be or not to be

a fine Oak

As we know.

i was up early on the slippery slope

sweeping up the babies
for me hard to cope

being disabled sweeping alone

its easy to fall

and perhaps break a bone

i am here though to work

and be careful, for  I

work alone in the mornings

under the sky.

sweeping and bending and filling my sack

with so many acorns

and still under attack

from all the trees behind me

Still tossing them down

as I sweep them they drop
