Unbearable existence

Once I was wild and I
Lived in the forest
Alongside the river
Hunting. For fish
Eating ripe berries
Loving the life
Until I was captured
And then faced the strife
Of ending up tragically in a deep pit
Walled made of concrete
And there I did sit
The walls green with mildew
