Birds we sometimes see

Living in England

oft we see

birds on the wing, excitedly

big white swans on

canals and rivers

the Mute  a resident

we often see

they hiss and snort

that’s  some retort

when they are  a bit angry

they let us know

they belong  to the monarch

Now to the King

then  there’s the Herons

That surely bring

long legs and neck

at the fishery

suddenly there

at the waters edge

for a fish or two

i do allege

the Canada Goose

who cackles away

On parkland lakes

can be seen today

Hanging with Wigeons Mallards and Teal

Ducks a plenty

All  very real.

My most recent favourite the Red Kite

hovers and glides

At a healthy height

enjoy the carrionAnd insects too

Small mammals and birds

goodly and true

Milvus  milvus  a splendid  bird

Around and around

it has occurred

most recently

and I have to say

sweet on the wing

in a wondrous way.
